Front Porch Ideas: How to add texture with Salt Wash Finish
As I sit here on my back porch having my morning coffee and going through the party link ups from Share it One More Time Link party we host every Saturday, seeing all the beautiful Spring ideas, has really put me in the mood to start my Spring decorating, normally I normally have my home all decked out for Spring by this time, but honestly I haven’t even unpacked all of my boxes. I know what is taking me so long? Well it goes something like this, house still needs to be finished, Farmhouse Decor Shop needs to be stocked and opened. Today, I decided to take a break from it all and get a few projects done and add some spring decorating to our front porch, in-spite of the cold weather and rain. I am so ready for some warmer days!
Today I am sharing how to add texture with Salt Wash to update potting containers and a wood frame.
One of the thing I love about this “fixer upper” is the large front and back porches. This is a small portion of the front porch and how I added some spring touches to it. One of the things we still need to do is refinish the wood on the porch along with painting the house, but all in due time.
Adding Salt Wash
Since most of my containers were left when we moved. I have been on the hunt for inexpensive container for planting. Instead of just using the ordinary pots I found this large stainless steel feed bucket and gave it a different look by adding texture with Salt Wash . It a powder additive that you mix with any paint. Here is what I used it on:
- Stainless Steel container
- Terra cotta clay pots
- Wood Frame
- It’s pretty simple, I added about 2 scoops of salt wash to a pint of paint, applied to projects and let dry. Such an easy way to add texture creating a one of a kind piece.
I will be sharing how I created this one of a kind address wall art piece this week, if you are looking to create a one of a kind address wall art piece, be sure to stop by this week and see how it is done.
