All American Farmhouse Dry Goods Pantry
Welcome back to another A Dose of DIY where a group of us share our projects and ideas. This month we are sharing some fun 4th of July ideas using flags, wood, material and or metal. I recently shared a quick and easy DIY project on how to make metal mesh stars, in the post, I mentioned some other ideas on how you could use the stars, one being as a garland. Today I will be sharing how we used some of the metal mesh stars as a garland to decorate our dry good open shelving pantry into an All American Farmhouse Dry Goods Pantry, along with a few other neutral patriotic decorating ideas.
When it comes to decorating for the 4th, I do like decorating in a neutral setting, I know the 4th is all about red, white and blue, I love that too. Be sure to check out those ideas from my Dose of DIY friends down below.
By decorating in the neutral colors I feel like I can leave this up for the for the whole month of July or perhaps even longer.
To see the full tutorial on how the metal mesh stars were made you can see them here
Simple Metal Mesh Star Garland
- Metal Mesh Stars (see tutorial here)
- Jute Twine
The garland is very simple, I kept it this way in order to highlight the other pieces on the shelf.
- measure jute/twine to the length of shelf
- tie smaller stars to the end of the twine/jute
- tie the large star on the twine/jute in the middle
- attach garland to the ends of the shelf.
Tip: If you wanted to fill in the garland you could cut strips of material, tying them on to twine/jute filling in between the starts.
A mason jar was filled and layered with powered sugar and brown sugar taking on the neutral color to mimic a firecracker.
on the other side of the star decorative plates is one of my favorite farmhouse white pitchers with a tan and white checked tea towel, wooden spoon to carry out the same like colors of the neutral color patriotic theme
One way I do like to bring the color of red, white and blue into a 4th of July celebration is through food and decorating with food, biscotti shaped into a star shape, apples in a white bowl with blue stripes.
