Last month I had the pleasure of sharing a craft project over at The Everyday Home and those of you that didn’t get a chance to see it, I thought I would share it with you here today. Each month, I will be sharing a craft project over at The Everyday home, so if you love craft’s then be sure to stop by around the first of the month for a fun and simple craft. Here is what I shared last month this not only useful, but hides the look of a ordinary cutting knife block set and can be used as a recipe holder. Here is how I repurposed a cutting knife block set into a farmhouse caddy with a couple of cutting boards ,wooden rulers and a chalkboard label.
Here is what you will need:
Wooden cutting knife block set:
13- 6″wooden rulers
* optional White paint
Here is what it looked like before it was repurposed, it has been repainted a few times and the last refinish it was painted to look like worn rusted wood. If you are interested in how this was done you can see what technique I used to add a faux rust.
I decided to keep this finish on the knife block and built around it with the rulers, starting with the front of the knife set, placing and gluing the rulers starting from the left and leaving the rest of the rulers hanging over the right side of the cutting block. You will see why further down.
Tip: When placing and adhering the rulers, place the top and bottom rulers first, this way it makes centering the middle ruler easier.
to finish the caddy a chalkboard label with clothes pin is attached to the front cutting board, this can hold recipe cards and the bottom part of the crate can hold a tablet / ipad or another cutting board like the ones used for this caddy.
I hope you enjoyed this post as much as I did creating and sharing it with you all. This month I will be sharing some Simple Wall Art over at The Everyday Home so be sure to stop by and see how simple it is to turn an ordinary item into a one of a kind piece of wall art.
