DIY UP-Cycling Winter Decorating Ideas
Hi Everyone, Today I thought I would share some DIY Winter Up-Cycling Decorating Ideas with you all. It is definitely Winter here, lots of rain, temps in the low 50’s, yes this is our type of Winter here in Cali.
While transitioning from Christmas to Winter in our home I have found that the most inexpensive way to do it, without saying Christmas is decorating with natural elements such as pinecones in a natural setting using creams and whites.
as much as I loved this farmhouse table, you can see it really wasn’t the perfect fit for this area of the kitchen, main reason being the wrong shape for this small area along with being to small to actually sit at and enjoy a meal. Since then we have replaced this table with a round drop leaf farmhouse style kitchen table. Not wanting to sell or get rid of the old one and as most of you all know Mr. OMT and I love a good home up-cycle project by turning one thing into something else using what we have and adding reclaimed wood to fit into the style of our home
I am not going to go into much of transformation, but basically the old table top was removed and the frame was resized to turn it into a sofa table. The new top was then replaced with some reclaimed wood, adding a strip of wood to the middle, working off of the middle piece laying reclaimed pieces in a chevron style pattern. I just love this look and how it coordinates with the repurposed coffee table.
As I mentioned above decorating for Winter can be as simple as using some pinecones by placing a couple on some white candlesticks down to just placing some in a decorative bowl, inside a birdhouse and a single pinecone added to a small pitcher.
I just love how this new to us sofa table allows just enough space to slide the ottoman underneath it, freeing up space in the living room while easy enough to slide it out for more seating. Isn’t it amazing how adding a few natural “free” pinecones gives off Winter feel while giving a cozy warm feeling during these winter months?
