Simple Christmas Decor With Updated Farmhouse Kitchen
Hi One More Time Friends, It’s pretty cold here, no snow yet. I’m really hoping there isn’t any this year, this former Cali girl is still not use to this kind of cold weather and certainly not snow. One good thing about it being cold is it brings me back to the inside of the house to get some DIY and decorating done. While I should be working on other rooms in our fixer upper home, I am back here in our farmhouse kitchen redecorating and updating it with new farmhouse wall decor, kitchen furniture, electric fireplace, along with adding some simple Christmas Decor.
Living where I do shopping is not the best for shopping home decor, so it’s either order online or make an hour and a half trip to Hobby Lobby, which I recently did and found these adorable square enamel farmhouse plates and this Farmhouse Sign.
The lamp was found at one of the local thrift shops, I purchased a very inexpensive shade and recovered it with some flannel buffalo checked fabric.
It’s always the simplest things that make a big difference to me. See the gathered platter and the stand it is placed in? This was really bothering me… why? because of two things…
1. it was to short and through the whole setting off
2. it was white.
Adding Balance and Color Flow
Here is how I fixed it
- Used on of my other stands that gave it hight balancing the decor along the fireplace
- using a black stand instead of the white balanced out the colors and added just enough pop to the mantel
Ok, so I am a little weird that way, but don’t you like it better?
Adding Simple Christmas Decor
Besides the adorable Snowman Christmas tree
a simple snowball flannel white and black buffalo checked garland dressed with lambs ear was added to the top of the mantel, red berries added, along with some adorable European trees placed in a bucket and farmhouse soup tureen.
Setting Family Traditions
When my daughter was growing up she always had her own tree to decorate and to carry that tradition my grandson will now have his own adorable Snowman Christmas tree to decorate. We both decorated his first Christmas tree this year, but he will be able to decorate it himself for many years to come.
