How to Decorate a Simple Winter Mantel
Hi all my One More Time friends! We just got back from Sunny California, while in Cali we did a little shopping, since we were flying home, I had to keep my shopping to a minimum, only purchasing what could fit in my suitcase. Do you know how hard that was? I did ended up buying another suit case, since I only took a rolling duffel bag, how dumb was that? Thank goodness a local thrift shop was having a half off sale, so, yes a suitcase was purchased. I wanted to make sure these corbels made it home in one piece.
Today I am sharing how I took these corbels and some other simple decor to decorate our mantel for the winter, we still have a couple more months of winter here, but this decor really could be used all year around.
I just love these corbels and even though they are normally used for shelving or corners of entries, I decided to use them creating centerpiece by placing them in a painted willow basket using them as bookends. You may or may not remember this painted willow basket, I painted a while back. I have used it in a few home decor vignettes as wall art by adding mirrors. Quick and Easy Fix for a Small Decorative Clock
Another purchase was this adorable small decorative clock. Not wanting to actually hang it on the wall, but wanting to add it to mantle, a blank frame was painted, the clock was then hung from the frame with a piece of jute. Why jute? This may sound crazy, but for the simplicity and color to match the books and the neutral beads draped over the stag horns.
By keeping the framed clock simple, it complements all the other pieces on the mantel not making it to busy.
