Today I am sharing how to find the right rug for a modern Farmhouse Kitchen
Finding the Right Rug
Finding the right rug for our farmhouse modern kitchen eating area has been a bit of a challenge. Because it is the frame work to the dining room eat in area I wanted to make sure it was perfect color, size and pattern to tie the whole area together. I purchased a wide black and white striped rug, along with trying out couple I already had but, nothing seemed to workout the way I envisioned it or wasn’t the right feel, texture or color.
Finding the Right Color
Finding the right color can be tricky especially when it comes to whites vs off whites. The first rug I purchased was a bright white and black wide striped, the white under the off white table and chairs, table runner and kitchen valances, didn’t go well at all, so needless to say it was not used. However I do have other plans for it, so it wasn’t a total waste.
Finding the Right Pattern Rug
Finding the right pattern rug was not easy the wide striped rug I did purchased gave the dining area more of a bistro cafe feel. I was looking for more of a cozy modern farmhouse welcoming feel to the room that would also go along with the fireplace in the eat in area of the kitchen.
Where to find A Rug
There are a few places I like to find rugs,
You’ll never guess where I finally found this rug for our eat in area of the kitchen. It was completely by mistake and never in a million years would I look for a rug in this place. This particular rug was found on Facebook Market Place. Do you ever shop on Facebook Market Place? I usually wouldn’t purchase this type item from a third party, but the colors were perfect and by looking at the advertised picture it looked like it was coming from a clean home.
After viewing the rug, it was in really good shape and super clean! Of course it received a good cleaning once I got it home. The price of $40.00 was a great deal this super thick and very well made rug.
Mixing and Matching Patterns
In our black and white modern farmhouse kitchen, the most dominate print is a large Black and off white buffalo checked pattern, while looking for a rug for this area it was important to keep it in the same color family, especially when using two different prints to create an easy vibe.
Finding the Right Size Rug
The rule-of-thumb when finding the perfect size rug for under dining room table. Measure your dining room table, add 20-30 inches.
