Farmhouse Living Room Makeover
Hi Everyone, Lately I have been focusing on getting the house updated with farmhouse home decor. Today I thought I would share what has been done so far, before all the Christmas decorations start going up. I recently updated the dining room and since then moved on to the living room by adding a few new pieces, swapped out some pieces, along with some DIY shutter wall decor to bring in an updated Farmhouse style to our living room.
I struggled with colors, I wanted for the living room, I tried blues, grey and just plain neutrals, but when I found this black and bone buffalo checked rug, I knew exactly what colors I wanted to decorate the living room in. black, bone and white still in a some what neutral pallet, however the black just does it for me! I love how it looks against the new flooring and how the black just makes everything pop.
I do love the all white Farmhouse styled homes you see quite often, my kitchen is done in that style if you haven’ seen it you can see it you can see how we designed our Farmhouse kitchen on a budget, but there is just something about adding more black and accenting with the white’s and bone that does it for me here in the living room.
I purchased this set of four olive branch pictures, I did like the finish of the frames, however I decided they would look better painted black, to match the rest of decor of the room.
When we moved in we decided that we would hang the TV on wall, rather than placing it on a stand or on top of the fireplace. To make the TV less conspicuous, two shutters painted in black with hanging lanterns with magnolia wreaths makes it less of an eye sore.
If you have been following for a while , you may have noticed the fireplace looks a little different, that’s because it is. This originally was in our master bedroom, but we did a little switching of the fireplaces and brought this one out to the living room. Why did we switch it? To bring in this large cabinet that now holds all our throws. I love how this cabinet screams “Farmhouse Style”
This is looking in from the living room to the newly farmhouse decorated dining room. (since this picture the table has been refinished in black). I haven’t decided yet, maybe you can help me out here…should I purchase another matching rug like the one in the living room for the dining room area? Would love to know what you think!
Thank you for spending part of your day here at One More Time Events and letting me share what we have done so far to our fixer upper home. I think I say this every time…still so much more to do! I hope you enjoyed what we have done so far.
