DIY Recycled Watering Can Planter
Hi Friends, Once again it is time again for another fun Junk Revisions, this month we here at Junk Visionaries are sharing projects inspired by our Mom or Dad. My project will on how I was inspired by my mom and a DIY Recycled Watering Can Planter.
Here is a little bit of the story on how I was inspired by my mom.
mom: obsessed with Facebook
me: little annoyed at times
mom: sharing at least 5 to 6 post all in a minutes time
me: receiving all of her notifications…bling, bling, bling, bling …you get it right?
(phone blowing up with email notifications)
me: deleting, will look at her Facebook page later.
mom: did you see what I shared today
me: no… head held down in shame
I did just so happen to open one of them the other day, I am so happy I did… she shared this Cute Ways To Upcycle Antique Watering Cans. Not only did it help me decide what I was going to do for this months challenge, I knew exactly what she was going to get for for one of her mother’s day gifts. I always like to give her one handcrafted gift and this year it will be this DIY Recycled Watering Can Planter. Be sure to check out all the other ideas and projects from the others at the end of this post.
How to re-cycle and DIY our own Water Can Planter
Supplies and Tools Used:
All the supplies here are re-cycled items we had from around the house, so they were completely free, but this watering can was made with complete love! That’s all that matters right? You can make it from new item. I put a list of supplies together for you in case you would like to make one for a gift or perhaps for yourself.
Metal Support Strap
Pipe Tube Cpvc Tubing Cutter
Drop and Bloom Flowers
Tip: Metal Support Straps can also be used for “L” brackets by bending them in a vise. Personally, I think they would add an interesting industrial/rustic farmhouse style to any home decor. What do you think? Best part I found them at our local Home and Garden center for less than a dollar a piece.
mark the spot where you want to place your spigot
Drill a smaller hole first
Come back and drill a larger hole with cone drill bit, insert tubing in spigot
Measure and size your threaded tubing cut off access with Pipe Tube Cpvc Tubing Cutter
insert the end of the spigot/tubing into the hole, from the inside of the paint place your hose mender (now remember we used what we had on hand) you could use another type of of thread cap. screw in place making sure it is tight.
How to make a Handle from Strap Support for Watering Can
First the strap support was bent into rounded shape of a handle (we used a small tree trunk) and then the ends were flattened and bent in a vise
screw handle in place with metal screws
Add flowers. Done Give to Mom and tell her Thank you for sharing the post on ideas about watering cans 🙂
One last thing because my Mom loves bling a faux crystal was glued into the water spout to look like a water drop.
