How to make Plaster of Paris Flowers using Silks
You may not want to toss those left over silk flowers out yet! I always have so many left over silk floral left over from projects I have done, just like I did from the Hurricane Daisy Vases I made Here for my mom for Mother’s Day.
Today I am going to share with you How to Make Plaster of Paris Flowers with your left over silk flowers, if you don’t have any leftovers you can visit your local dollar store and pick some up, those will work too.
I chalk painted this platter a while back and decided to embellish it with the plaster flowers.
I attached the leaves and flowers with the E6000 and then sprayed it with clear spray paint.

Plaster of Paris
1 measuring cup
Useful Tip: using a hand blender makes mixing plaster of paris mixture a lot easier. I also mix my own chalk paint, so owning one of these Hand Blenders makes life so much easier and well worth money….less than $20.00….Yep totally worth it!
Plaster of Paris Recipe
2 cups Plaster of Paris (or two parts)
1 cup water (or 1 part)
Mix your plaster mix well until it looks like pancake batter
Directions how to make Plaster of Paris Flowers
Dip your silks into the mixture
and place on parchment paper to dry.
I let mine dry over night.
Once they are dry, chip off the excess Plaster of Paris. I used the colors I have been using on some other projects I have done.
I added the first color let it dry and then the second color by dry brushing just hit the high points of the flowers and leaves, let it dry and came back with the other color using the same technique.

The next project I added the remainder of the plaster flowers to a bird cloche, I purchased awhile back.
