DIY Blanket Ladder
There are so may variations of ladders, like these I found on pinterest. I have been wanting a ladder to hold my blanket throws for a long time now. Recently, I mention it to my hubby, Mr. OMT that I would love to have one for the family room. Guess what I got for Valentine’s Day? Yep a ladder to hold some of my throw blankets. I guess he does listen to me! There is nothing better than receiving gifts from the heart. If one thing my hubby does know about me, he does know I love his handcrafted gifts. Especially when it is a DIY project like this DIY blanket ladder. Most of the time other than Christmas, he usually does makes me something. I always love whatever he does…even if I didn’t (which has never happened) I would love it just because it came from his heart.
I keep three kinds of throws in the family room a light weight, medium weight, and heavy weight this way whatever the weather might be we’ve got you covered! Get it?
How to make your own DIY Blanket Ladder
Here is the best part it didn’t cost him a dime to make it!
- Tree branches (from our apricot tree)
- Fencing Post (left over from our side yard project)
- 6′ wood nails (had on had)
Each piece was cut accordingly
- 2- fence post 4 ft
- 1- apricot branch 1st rung 19″
- 1-apricot branch rung 20″
- 1-apricot branch rung 21″
- 1- 4th apricot branch 22″
each branch laid 10″ apart and nailed in place. Mr. OMT kept it as close to the original state as he could, other than some light sanding on the rungs to keep them from snagging the throws.
another thing I really like how chunky it is . I told my hubby it kind of resembled me short, chunky and a little rustic around the edges. What I really love is it was made from his heart. So this goes to show you a great gift doesn’t have to be expensive or fancy to be a great gift….well at least in my book it doesn’t.
using one of the small off shoots of the apricot branch is a perfect place to dry out some yellow roses my daughter received for her birthday.

Because this type of ladder leans up against the wall it allows enough space to place to place a wire basket to hold a couple of my favorite pillows that my daughter gifted us at Christmas a compass and Deer pillows look perfect against this rustic ladder. Don’t you think?
Here is another way I like to display some more of my throws
