Arranging Furniture in Family Room
While we have been staying busy and making many changes in our home, our family room was one of them that needed some changing. By rearranging the furniture, adding new curtains and incorporating the color grey to the already neutral color gave it an open concept, less cluttered lighter feel to the small family room area.
What really started all of this rearranging was this oak desk
My husband (Mr. OMT) loves this oak roll top desk (eye roll) and it was out of the question to ask him to get rid of it, paint it or place it in another room (my vote garage…) This has been an eye sore (for me anyway) and really the TV on top??? How ackward is that??? I finally begged, pleaded and had a hissy fit…no not really, but it did take some convincing, it would look better on the opposite wall. He finally agreed. Whew!!! Adding a rusted mercury mirror over the desk and creating a vignette of what he likes was fun, antlers, decor gear you know… guy stuff. Adding our initials and giving them a faux rusted finished helped to tie in with the rusted mirror.
Using the sofa table in the place of where the desk use to be now allows the natural light to come in and gives it a more open feeling and the TV doesn’t stick out like a sore thumb.
Taking out the large area rug also helped the area seems bigger and brighter. So now you are probably wondering how in the world we watch the TV with the love seat like this???? We have two reclining chairs that are still in the same place as the picture below. Sorry, I didn’t get an up to date picture of the chairs in it. That is where we spend most of our time when watching TV
Changes that took place since this picture above:
Area rug removed and smaller rug added
Sofa table top painted and moved to the corner
New repurposed coffee table, suit case luggage rack with Vintage window
Love seat moved to other side of room
Lamp repainted grey
Vintage Milking Stool painted and placed under Vintage Window coffee table
Replaced Faux Painted Leather Desk Chair
