Decorating Fireplace Hearth
I mentioned in my last post about how challenged I am when it comes to decorating my fireplace mantle. I did pick up a couple of things this past weekend for the mantle, but it still needs something else.
Decorating a hearth seems to come to me a little easier.
Decorating with wire basket into a Book Basket this would also be good for magazines.
I picked up this wire basket at a local thrift shop. I love the look of wire baskets. They are great for storing larger items, mainly because you can see what you are storing. Here I used it to store some old books and added a welcome sign on the front of the basket.
You can go here to see how I used wire baskets on my potting bench
and here for more ideas

My fireplace screen has been a few colors. This time I painted it with some...yep.. chalk paint and finished it with some Martha Stewart Metallic Paint Specialty Finish. I love this stuff! (no I wasn't compensated for saying this.... I really do love it. I use it a lot and if you have been following me, you know I use it all the time.

The two things on each side of fireplace, I found at an antiques shop. I really don't know what they are but I found them very interesting. The lady at the antique store told me they were tomato cages??? I just liked them so it really didn't matter what they are. I love the unexpected and they make a good conversation piece.
I am still debating whether I should paint them... What do you think... Yes paint?, No, leave them like they are? Do you know what they are? Are the tomato cages

So now I really need to get the mantle done...but I just realized Easter is just around the corner, so I need to get my spring decorations down. Whew... this will give me a little more time to figure out what I really want to decorate the mantle with. Saved by Spring!

Til next post...Xo
Tammy

Looks great. Love the basket and those accents from the antique store.
