Buffet Vignette with Free and Thirft Store Finds

Buffet Vignette created with Free items and Thrift Store Finds

Candle Sticks/Antique Drawers and  Decorative Tray Makeover

When I went on my weekend frenzy I should you the furniture re-do and had mentioned that  I would show you some of the actual pieces that were done.  One of them were these candle sticks that were given to me.  I loved the height on them, but wasn't crazy about the color only because it didn't go with the rest of my decor.  So... What do you do?  Of course paint them.

With some oops paint and some Plaster of Paris I made up some chalk paint using 2 parts paint and 1 part Plaster of Paris
Knowing I was going to use  these pieces, Candlesticks and Antique sewing machine drawers  I had left over from a earlier purchase from a thrift store to create a vignette on my buffet. I painted them all  the same. I applied the chalk paint and then applied a dark wax from Minwax.

rather than using the traditional candle I decided I would use these decorative Orbs I found at the thrift store.

I placed the two antique drawers together and added some decorative balls which  I found at Target in the clearance section some branches and peat moss to the top.

this tray was part of a set I purchased at the thrifts store.   I painted it with some homemade chalk paint and then  applied some Martha Stewart's Living Muscovado metallic glaze.   I did the same to the mirror above which was black.

these are the wall planters that was part of the set, they were painted as well.

This Buffet was done and completed with a little paint, hand me downs, thirft store finds and a few items I had around the house.  So next time if you ever decide you would like to make a little change or a big change, look around the house, do a little thirft shopping and remember paint makes a big big impact for little to nothing.

  9. Nicely done! I love those drawers you found. My thrift store never has anything like that; you have to hit one of the antique malls for them. I love how you coordinated everything using the same color paint.
