Hi, I hope you all had a wonderful 4th of July! We originally didn't plan on doing anything for the 4th, since it was in the middle of the week and 4am comes way too soon for me, but plans changed and my in laws came out for a BBQ. I love spending time with them we always have such a great time together! I didn't find out until Monday night that they were coming. I didn't have any decorations so I quickly visited the Dollar Tree on my way home Tuesday. I picked up some red, white and blue square plates and some wire star garland and then searched the house for some red, white or blue anything to create this tablescape. So, for a total of $10.00 I was able to decorate a little bit for the 4th of July.
The denim tablecloth is a curtain panel I had, it was left with the house when we moved in. I washed them and for some reason I kept them...now I know why. I remembered I had them so I quickly pulled them out and cut off the tabs and decided to use it as a table cloth.
Remember the flowers I took off the grapevine wreath I used for the new Hanging Bird Bath? Well I found a use for them today. With the Wire Garland I twisted it around some small flag picks and white flowers and tied it all together with the tabs I cut of the curtain panels.
I had the Coca-Cola crate and 2 liter bottles, nothing says All American than Coca-Cola right?
I placed some white paper plates (who wants to spend most of their time in the kitchen washing dishes? Not Me!) onto the square plates and I added some small dessert cups with blue trim in the middle. Plastic silverware was wrapped in red napkins and tied with some of the wire star garland
The Coca-Cola crate and bottles served as the center piece I add some small flag picks, denim tabs and the rest of the white flowers.
Metal Star basket was found at thrift store. It was silver, I just painted it white and wrapped some more of the wire star garland around the top.
So... here is what you can create in one day at the last minute with things you may have laying around the house and with a few items from the Dollar Store and Thrift Store!
I made this fruit salad and at the last minute decided to try and decorate it for the 4th by adding Blueberries in a shape of a star topped with a marshmallow cut into a shape of a star dipped into the cranberry drink to give it a somewhat red color.
Again, hope you all enjoyed your 4th! I originally was going to post something else, but I really wanted to share my 4th with you all and share what can be done for those last minute tablescapes.

ReplyDeleteHi, Tammy. This is my first visit to your blog via Tablescape Thursday. You did a good job of pulling together a festive table with little notice! Sometimes we can be our most creative when we're under the gun with precious little time and/or money. It makes us dig really deep into the creative recesses of our brains!!! :-) The Coke crate and bottles are super all-American, so they work perfectly. Cute what you did with the garland around the napkins! Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
