In my last post I said I was working on my potting bench and it is now finally done. I have had this potting bench for about 16 years and it has had a few purposes in it's life time. It started as a potting bench and then when I had my store it was cleaned up, painted, stenciled with ivy and used for display. After the store was sold it has been just sitting around collecting dirt.
Before I get started on the potting bench, do you remember when I wrote in last post I tried to get pictures of the birds enjoying their new retreat and wasn't able to get one before I posted?
To finish it off a stain with a sealer was used.
I really like the new color!
Time to get things organized
To help solve the organizational problem, I purchased two wire baskets at Marshals for $7.99 ea. I think these really were intended to be for office files, but I really liked the size of them and the name plate on front.
I hot glued the sisal rope around the edges of the basket and wrapped the handles as well,
with a little help from my daughter's kitten Pickles
one basket is filled with flower and vegetable vitamins and the other holds pots, gardening gloves and hose attachments.
I purchased these faux plants at a local thrif shop for around $7.00 (for all three).
Handles on mason jars were made with wire. I have a few of these with candles in them hanging on the apricot tree.
I believe I like this look best! I am sure it will change, but for now I will leave it like this, for awhile anyway. So, this makeover probably only cost around $30.00 or less. Can't beat that!
I am very pleased how it turned out!
I am thinking one more basket is in order! I have "an idea" famous last words. I have some other things I want to incorporate into the bench! What do you think? Would love to hear your ideas!
